These issues are usually caused by various factors such as equipment adjustment, consumables, maintenance, and operation. Common problem one: Edge banding machine does not stick the edge banding tape
This is the most critical issue, the adhesion is not firm, and all subsequent processing cannot be discussed.
Possible reasons:
1. Temperature issue: The heating temperature of the glue pot is insufficient, and the hot melt adhesive is not fully melted, resulting in a lack of viscosity.
2. Glue application problem: Insufficient or uneven glue application on the glue roller (glue wheel), or excessive distance between the glue roller and the edge of the board.
3. Pressure issues:
Insufficient pre pressing wheel pressure: failed to timely press the edge banding onto the board.
Insufficient or offset pressure on the compression wheel (front and rear compression wheels): Failure to fully press and fit the edge banding with the board.
4. Adhesive problem: Poor quality, expired, or mismatched hot melt adhesive with edge banding/board material was used.
5. Substrate issues: The edges of the board are uneven, with saw marks, dust or oil stains, which affect the bonding effect.
6. Edge banding issue: The pre coated adhesive layer on the back of the edge banding is problematic or damp.
Solution:
1. Check and adjust the temperature: Ensure that the temperature of the glue pot is set within the recommended range of the equipment manufacturer and hot melt adhesive (usually 180 ℃ -220 ℃). Use a thermometer to actually measure the temperature of the adhesive solution, rather than just looking at the display.
2. Adjust the amount of glue applied: Check if the glue roller is blocked or worn, and clean or replace it if necessary. By adjusting the device, increase the amount of glue applied appropriately and ensure that the glue is evenly and continuously applied.
3. Check and adjust the pressure:
Adjust the pre pressing wheel to just press the edge banding onto the board.
Check the position and spring pressure of all clamping wheels to ensure they align with the edges of the sheet and provide uniform and stable pressure.
4. Replace with high-quality hot melt adhesive: Choose a well-known brand of high-quality hot melt adhesive that matches the edge banding tape (PVC, ABS, PP, etc.) and the season (different formulas for winter and summer).
5. Processing of substrate: Ensure the quality of sawing and cutting of the board, with smooth and even edges. Before edge sealing, use a spray gun or brush to remove dust and debris from the edges of the board.
6. Check the edge banding: Use edge banding with stable quality and dry storage.
Common problem 2: Uneven glue application on edge banding machine
Uneven application of glue directly leads to weak adhesion and uneven surface.
Possible reasons:
1. Glue pot problem: Excessive temperature of the glue solution can cause carbonization, scab formation, or impurities to block the glue outlet and glue roller.
2. Rubber roller problem: The rubber roller is worn, damaged, or has old adhesive solidified on the surface.
3. Transmission problem: The transmission mechanism of the glue roller is malfunctioning, resulting in uneven rotation.
4. Gap issue: Improper adjustment of the gap between the glue roller and the feeding platform.
Solution:
1. Cleaning the glue pot: Regularly (recommended after each shift) clean the glue pot to remove carbonization scabs and impurities. Keep the glue clean and avoid mixing foreign objects.
2. Clean or replace the glue roller: Use a specialized cleaning tool (such as a copper brush) to clean the glue roller while it is hot. If the wear is severe, it should be replaced immediately.
3. Check the transmission mechanism: Check whether the transmission components such as chains and gears are loose or damaged, and tighten or replace them.
4. Precise adjustment of gap: According to the thickness of the board, refer to the equipment manual to accurately adjust the height gap between the glue roller and the platform to ensure consistent glue thickness.
Common problem three: Edge banding machine with uneven trimming (rough/fine trimming with burrs and broken edges)
Possible reasons:
1. Tool problem: The trimming blade (straight blade, imitation blade) is passivated, chipped, or installed at an incorrect angle.
2. Feed rate issue: The tool feed rate is too large, cutting too much at once, resulting in edge breakage or burning.
3. Benchmark blocking problem: The benchmark blocking (mountain blocking) of the trimming mechanism is worn or loose, resulting in unstable tool operation.
4. Edge banding material: Overly thick edge banding or excessively hard materials (such as metal edge banding strips) require higher requirements for cutting tools.
5. Pressure wheel problem: The pressure wheel failed to stabilize the sheet metal, resulting in vibration during cutting.
Solution:
1. Replace or sharpen the blade: Regularly check the sharpness of the blade and replace or send it for repair and grinding in a timely manner. Ensure that the blade is securely installed and the angle meets the requirements.
2. Adjust the feed rate: reduce the single feed rate and adopt the principle of "small amount multiple times" for edge trimming. Especially for precision knives, the feed rate needs to be very small.
3. Check and tighten the stopper: Check whether the stopper of the trimming mechanism is loose or worn, ensure its stability, and provide a stable support benchmark for the tool.
4. Choose appropriate cutting tools: For edge banding with special materials, use specialized cutting tools (such as sharper blades for solid wood edge banding).
5. Adjust the pressing device: Ensure that the pressing wheel and conveyor belt stably press the sheet onto the workbench to avoid vibration during processing.
